Increase All-Star Games to help pay for pension?

by on Oct.22, 2010 @ 4:25 am, under NPB

The 12 teams of the NPB met for a meeting on Thursday and it seems they're currently mulling over a plan to increase the number of All-Star Games (from two to three games) to help fund a newly proposed pension system.

Earnings from the All-Star Game are put towards the current pension system, but with an important tax break law coming off the books on 3/2012, the NPB needs to tap into more revenue in order to make up for the loss after losing the tax break.

Moving forward, the 12 teams will continue to work on ways to help improve the NPB's finances by looking into ways of raising revenue (new business opportunities) and cutting costs.
