The city of Hiroshima held a Farewell Old Hiroshima Stadium Festival on Sunday.

A number of festivities were planned for the day, including auctions, tours, and opportunities to throw in the bullpen.

Hiroshima Carp players, Katsuhiro Nagakawa, Yoshikazu Kura, and Shigenobu Shima took part in a final pitch ceremony.

Some of the items that were auctioned off:

Dugout bench, first base side: 128,000 yen

Bullpen home plate: 81,000 yen

Baseball lamp fixtures used near the entrance of the stadium: 59,000 yen

Toilet signs: 39,000 yen

Note: additional items, like bases and stadium seats, will apparently be auctioned off online beginning on the 28th.

Hiroshima mayor Tadatoshi Akiba also took part in the festivities, but suffered a contusion on his right thigh after an angry fan threw a baseball at him during the final pitch ceremony.  According to the Hiroshima police, the person that threw the baseball was a 45-year-old unemployed man that was against the destruction of the stadium.
