Club rep Hidetoshi Kiyotake told reporters earlier today that head coach Haruki Ihara submitted a resignation letter to the team. The Giants are hoping to hold on to Ihara by offering him a job as an advisor in the player development department.
The Giants probably also won't give extensions to batting coach Kazunori Shinozuka, battery coach Shuji Nishiyama, and outfield / base-running coach Koichi Ogata.
UPDATE @ 11:56pm - the Giants are thinking of Kazuhisa Kawaguchi, Masahiro Kawai, and Hiroshi Moriwaki as replacements for the three coaches they won't be giving extensions to.
UPDATE @ 10/25 12:15am - the Giants announced that Ihara will be returning to the club as a Senior Advisor to the player development department. They also formally announced that they will not be renewing contracts for the three coaches mentioned above (Shinozuka, Nishiyama, and Ogata).
