The Yokohama Bay Stars are scheduled to open negotiations with Shuichi Murata and Seiichi Uchikawa today. The Bay Stars front office had their hands tied by JS Group Corporation (JSGC) earlier on because JSGC didn't want the Bay Stars making any deals while they were at the table with TBS Holdings.
Speaking of JSGC, it seems one of the reason why the sale never went down was because JSGC had plans to move the club. According to a Nikkan Sports article, Shizuoka was a possibility, as was Niigata and Kyoto. But more than that, it seems JSGC wanted out of Yokohama. And in the end, it seems TBS was concerned about looking like the bad guy by selling out to a company that was about to change the Yokohama Bay Stars.
Another Nikkan Sports article also includes a quote that mentions the sale price was wasn't the problem. But a different Nikkan Sports article says that there may have been a gap 1B yen gap (TBS may have been asking for 7B yen while JSGC came in with a 6B yen offer).
Incidentally, JSGC denied that all of this was a publicity stunt.
