Katsuya Nomura made an appearance at Wataricho, Miyagi on Saturday and spoke about how the importance of stopping Japanese players from heading to the Majors.
"Everyone will [end up going] to America," said Nomura. "What will become of Japan's pro yakyu? The best can help teach the best. Kaneda brought up Oh and Nagashima, and Oh and Nagashima helped bring up Enatsu. ... Strict rules need to be created. I wonder what the commissioner is doing."
While I do agree that something needs to be done, I'm not entirely sure that creating harsher rules will stop the flow. I think what's more important is creating a better working environment for players and improving the level of play in the NPB.
