Via Nikkan Sports: NY Times' David Waldstein mentions that the deal the Mets offered Hisanori Takahashi before Sandy Alderson was named GM was a 1-year deal full of incentives. The Mets have until November 5 to come to an agreement with Takahashi, who is currently looking for a multi-year deal (2-3 years), before losing him to free agency (they won't be able to him until May 15).
It seems the Angels won't be offering Hideki Matsui a contract during the 5-day window they have after the last game of the World Series. But it does seem as though they will be involved in negotiations with Matsui during the off-season.
Sponichi mentions the Oakland A's and Chicago White Sox as two teams that might be interested in Matsui.
