The Yokohama Bay Stars played an intra-squad game using the new NPB regulation baseball on Monday. Kentaro Takasaki tossed three innings and said, "I lost grip of the ball a couple of times because it's a little slippery, but I started getting used to it the more innings I went. I saw a lot more horizontal movement on my breaking pitches."
On the hitting side of things, Naoto Inada said, "We were speaking about how the ball didn't travel quite as much as we thought. And the ball is pretty slippery." Yoshitomo Tsutsugo didn't seem to be as concerned, saying that he didn't even realize they were using the new ball.
