Toru Hosokawa met with the Seibu Lions today and told them that he will be exercising his domestic FA option.
Said Hosokawa, "In thinking of the numbers I put up, I decided to exercise my FA option. I want to talk with the clubs that are interested in me."
The Yokohama Bay Stars are apparently interested in Hosokawa. A club rep told reporters, "[We're interested, but] we first need to take care of Murata and Uchikawa. ... Upgrading the catching situation is a big area for us. We're continuing with our plan to strengthen our club, one step at a time."
The Softbank Hawks have also expressed an interest in Hosokawa and it seems they might be preparing a contract that could have a yearly salary of up to 100M yen (assuming he maxes out all performance bonuses). In other words, it seems the Hawks are thinking of offering Hosokawa a conservative base salary with a ton of performance bonuses. The Hawks will likely take a similar approach with Seiichi Uchikawa.
