Seems Takahiro Arai's decision to spend consecutive days working out at Koshien has Tomoaki Kanemoto surprised.  Said Kanemoto, "I think this is the first time I've see him out here on consecutive day this early in the off-season.  It's the first time he's practice without media to watch.  He must be really disappointed about not being able to come through with key hits this year.  Taking care of the body is important, but maybe he should work more on taking care of the emotional / mental side of things."

Arai's response: "This is my 13th year.  I know what I need to do. ... I'm not sure if he's making fun of me or praising me.  To hear him say something like that, it's kind of embarrassing."

Shunsuke Fujikawa appears to be the front-runner for the starting center field job so far.  During a simulated game on Wednesday, Fujikawa hit a homer off Naoto Tsuru in his first at bat with a runner on third and 2 out.

Ryunosuke Yokoyama faced 6 batters during yesterday's simulated game and retired them all in order.

After yesterday's simulated game, held another round of situational bunting practice, in addition to regular bunting practice.
