Jojima's comment on the surgery:

Because I want to be 100% healthy for the 2011 season, I decided it was best to have surgery now.  I'll do my best to work on my rehab and be ready to play on opening day.

The Hanshin Tigers announced yesterday that Kenji Jojima had surgery on his left knee on the 9th and will likely be out for at least 6 months, meaning there's a good chance he'll miss the start of the 2011 season.

According to chief trainer Taizo Tsunekawa, Jojima started feeling some pain in his left knee near the end of the season and later had the knee checked out and was told he had a tear in his left meniscus.

So, wait – if Joh and Kanoh both just had surgery, and Yano retired, who’s going to be behind the plate on Opening Day? Komiyama?
