The Carp held a press conference today to announce their signing of Toyoda.  Toyoda apparently gets a 1-year deal worth 20M yen plus incentives and the number 33.

The Hiroshima Carp have apparently signed Kiyoshi Toyoda to help out in the bullpen.  The Yomiuri Giants originally offered Toyoda a player / coach position with the team this year, but Toyoda declined because he was still interested in pursuing a career as just a player.

Toyoda showed the Carp he's fully recovered from back problems that limited him to 16 games this season (seems he pitched in a simulated game and probably held bullpen sessions on consecutive days).
