Shuichi Murata held a press conference today in order to announce that he won't be exercising his domestic FA option.
Said Murata, "This was the most difficult decision in my life. We've had three consecutive 90+ loss seasons and as the player rep, I wasn't sure if I could [just leave things like this]. Would it really be ok for me to throw up my hands a give up? I want to give back to the manager and coaches that allowed me to continue batting third despite my stats."
When asked about his upcoming international FA option (which he'll earn next season), Murata said it was something he wanted to think about over the next year.
Incidentally, it seems the Bay Stars and Murata will come to terms on a 1-year deal.
