Chiba Lotte Marines hold tryouts for Fujita, Bayliss, and McCrory

by on Nov.18, 2010 @ 4:10 am, under NPB

The Chiba Lotte Marines held tryouts for Soichi Fujita, Jonah Bayliss, and Bob McCrory on Wednesday (first day was actually on Tuesday).

It seems the three were supposed to pitch in a simulated game during practice on Wednesday, but the rain pushed that off to today.  The Marines are expected to decide on the fate of the three pitchers based on their performances during the simulated game.

Regarding McCrory, he tossed about 70 pitches in the bullpen (mostly fastballs) on Tuesday.  McCrory arrived in Japan on the Sunday and was apparently a little jet-lagged.  He still managed to top out at 148km/h.  The Marines apparently like McCrory because of his experience as a reliever.
