Takeshi Yamasaki visited Miyagi prefectural offices and the Sendai City government offices on Friday in order to donate 1M yen to Miyagi, Sendai, and Kurihara. Seems Yamasaki is getting himself pumped for the 2011 season (his goal is apparently 40 homers and 100 RBI) and is ready for the competition / challenges Akinori Iwamura will bring.
Said Yamasaki, "With Iwakuma leaving, there won't be too many original players. We (the original players) need to take pride in what we've done for this team and work hard. Eveyone must be thinking, 'Oh, Iwamura is coming...' We just need to face our internal challenges and win. ... If the team changes too quickly, the fans will be disappointed. Iwamura is a major-leaguer. But that isn't saying a lot since it isn't like he left after putting up really great stats."
