by on Nov.21, 2010 @ 8:40 pm, under NPB

About 200,000 fans showed up to watch the Chiba Lotte Marines parade that took place in Mihama, Chiba earlier today.  The parade started at Mihama Promenade and went towards Chiba Marine Stadium via Messe Odori and Kokusai Odori, for a total distance of about 1.6km.

UPDATE: local fans / groups spent 10 days cutting up old newspapers to create 1.7 tons of paper snow that was thrown around during the parade.

And about 30,000 fans gathered at Chiba Marine Stadium for Fan Appreciation Day after the parade.

Both Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Hiroyuki Kobayashi also said their final goodbyes to the fans.

You lost a decimal point there; it was 200,000.

I don’t know how they would estimate the crowd at 30,000 for the fan festival – every seat was taken + many standing + many outside the stadium who never came in. It was 40,000, minimum at the stadium.

      eep… Fixed.

30,000 seemed a little low. I thought it was a misprint, but quite a number of reports mention that figure.
