According to a report filed by Sports Hochi, the Yokohama Bay Stars could be preparing to offer Hichori Morimoto a 2-year deal worth 200M yen plus bonuses during their first round of negotiations.
Said a club rep, "Hosokawa and Morimoto are both around the same age. Similar contracts? That's possible. We would certainly love to have [Morimoto] come to Yokohama."
While the Bay Stars have already checked into Morimoto's schedule, they don't appear to be in a huge rush to meet him -- they likely won't move until after Uchikawa makes a decision and that means their first meeting with Morimoto might not happen until some time in December.
Nikkan Sports seems to think (as does Sponichi) that Toru Hosokawa will accept the Softbank Hawks' 4-year deal. Incidentally, the base yearly on the contract is apparently 71M yen year. The Hawks will also apparently provide whatever support he needs to move his family (wife and two kids) to Fukuoka.
The Yokohama Bay Stars haven't given up on hope though. They're currently trying to schedule a second meeting with Hosokawa and are said to be thinking about making another offer.
It appears there's still a chance that Hitoshi Tamura will remain with the Softbank Hawks. With a time limit imposed on a recently updated Hawks' offer and yesterday's victory parade in Fukuoka, it seems Tamura may not be feeling quite as strongly about leaving the team as he once did. It also appears that having Sadaharu Oh sit in the same car as Tamura during yesterday's parade worked in favor of the Hawks.
