Ryoji Aikawa, Shohei Tateyama, and Norichika Aoki held a baseball clinic for 160 kids (spread across 8 teams) on Saturday.
And something that might be of a little more interest: talk of Aoki wanting to break Matt Murton's hit record next year.
Junji Ogawa told reporters during fall camp that he wanted to try keeping Aoki in the lead-off spot next year. Sanspo mentions that Aoki batted .315 out of the 3-hole, .222 out of the 4-hole, and a lofty .379 out of the lead-off spot this past season.
On Saturday, Aoki was asked about batting lead-off and he said, "When the season started I was batting third, but if I'm to bat lead-off, that's fine with me. ... If I do bat first, I'd also like to think about running more. Lots and lots of running."
When asked about the hit title, Aoki replied, "I couldn't get past Murton this year and I'd like to do what I can [to make it past him next year]."
