2010 Draft News and Notes: November 22, 2010

by on Nov.22, 2010 @ 2:23 pm, under NPB

Hanshin Tigers

Daiki Enokida (1st round) returned from the Asian Games on Sunday.  Enokida pitched in a total 6 games (includes practice games) and did not give up a run over 16 innings of work.

Shinta Hifumi (2nd round) is hoping to become a pitcher like Chang-Yong Lim.  Said Hifumi, "I was able to hit 150km/h throwing from the side so my next goal is getting over 155km/h.  When I saw Yakult's Lim pitch, I thought he threw really fast.  If I'm going to do this, I want to pitch like that."

Yokohama Bay Stars

...agreed to terms with Hiroshi Kobayashi (4th round) today.  Contract 10M yen, bonus 45M yen.

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants newly drafted players visited The Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum today.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito (1st round) started his off-season training at the Waseda grounds in Nishi Tokyo on Sunday.  He started his workouts around 6:22am and spent about 2 hours running and playing catch.

Yuya Taniguchi (5th round) signed about 50 autographs on Sunday.  While that isn't entirely interesting, the fact that he used both hands to sign the autographs is: apparently used his left hand to sign his name and his right hand to write the name of the club and the date.  Incidentally, he throws righty, bats lefty, and writes lefty.

Masaru Saito (6th round) is apparently looking for a good nickname because there are already two other Masaru's on the team, in addition to another Saito.

Seibu Lions

...agreed to terms with Kazuhisa Makita (2nd round) today.  Contract 13M yen, bonus 70M yen.
