It appears Kazuo Matsui and Akinori Iwamura may meet up sometime early next week in order to work out together.
Said Iwamura, "We're both in Tokyo right now and if our schedules line-up, we should try practicing together to work on our rhythm."
Iwamura is planning on starting up his workouts on 12/1 and has already secured a place to practice.
Appearing at the Meiji University baseball team's 100th anniversary celebration, Senichi Hoshino spoke about the possibility of a Masahiro Tanaka vs Yuki Saito match-up and said, "It's something the fans are looking forward to. If they're in good shape, they could face each other around 2 times a year. And it might be possible to work something out [with Masataka Nashida]."
The Eagles first series against the Nippon Ham Fighters at Kleenex Stadium next year takes place on 4/22.
Hoshino also spoke to the media about the Eagles landing Matsui and said, "The front office has moved quickly. We now have a 3-tool (run, hit, field) lead-off man. I hope [Matsui] and Iwamura can become cornerstones of this team and pull everyone together."
Hoshino also didn't seem too concerned about where the two would play and said, "They'll play where ever they're needed."
Regarding Kenshin Kawakami, Hoshino mentioned the year he still had on his contract with the Braves and that he wouldn't push hard for him.
