About 30 fans showed up to catch a glimpse of Matsui on Sunday.
And Sanspo has posted the comments from Matsui:
What will your role be with the Eagles?
Running, hitting, fielding. I'm who I am because I can do those three things. So I need to do those three things. I'd like to try and lead by example, like working hard during practice.
Your thoughts on the team?
They have a lot of young pitchers and they have some good position players. I consider myself young so I'd like to work hard and mix things up with them.
Your thoughts on your uniform number being 32?
I was thinking about selecting the number 3, but I wanted to start over from scratch so I selected the number 32.
Your experiences in the US?
I've experienced the World Series and the minor leagues, so I was able to take in a lot. I think my body remembers a lot of what I learned.
Your thoughts on Iwamura also being on the team.
I got a call about working out together. I'm looking forward to it. Together with Iwamura, I'd like to push things forward with our speed.
Your goals?
First, I want to be fully prepared for camp. And I want to help this team win, help this team win a championship.

The Rakuten Eagles held their press conference for Kazuo Matsui earlier today. He was also presented with the number 32, and not the number 3 as was previously rumored.
Said Matsui about the number, "I want to start over from the beginning. It's where I got my start with Seibu. I did want the number 3, but that's what I'm feeling."
And the latest on his contract: 2-year deal worth 150M yen per year.
