Tatsuo Kinoshita signed an Ikusei deal with the Chunichi Dragons in November. Now he wants to head to the Dominican Republic for three weeks of training (beginning on 12/3) at his own expense (about 300,000 yen).
Said Kinoshita, "If I'm going to do this, I may as well go all out. I want to learn more about playing with a strong desire. There are also a lot of pitchers that throw hard, plenty of things for me to learn. ... I'm not exactly sure how things will work out, but I'd like to try and practice [with a team]. I'd also like to play in some games if they'll let me. I won't be bringing anything with me other than baseball equipment."
Kinoshita wanted to train in the Dominican Republic when he played for the Nippon Ham Fighters, but they denied him the opportunity. The Dragons have a fairly strong ties to the Dominican Republic and Kinoshita plans on taking advantage of that.
