Former baseball players could face tax evasion charges

by on Dec.05, 2010 @ 4:31 pm, under NPB

The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau found that a group of investors, that also includes a number of former pro yakyu players, avoided paying taxes on about 500M yen worth of income over a 3 year period.

According to sources connected to the incident, the investors based out of Tokyo were invited to invest money into real estate properties in the US.

For several years, the depreciation costs of the properties went above the amount that was made in revenue.  In order to offset the difference, the investors apparently reallocated earnings from other sources and under-reported their overall incomes.
