Even though the Orix Buffaloes signed Seung-Yeop Lee to more or less replace Alex Cabrera, it seems he won't be taking over the clean-up spot as well. Nikkan Sports reports that Akinobu Okada told reporters that Takahiro Okada will be batting clean-up next year.
"I did bat T-Okada clean-up when Cabrera wasn't around. I have no complaints for him as a clean-up hitter," said Okada. "When that guy bats clean-up we have a pretty good winning percentage. I think he hit better out of the 4-spot."
For those wondering, Okada had a slash line of .345/.418/.655 (20-for-58) with 4 homers and 20 RBI when batting clean-up.
And speaking of Lee, the Buffaloes held his press conference in Seoul today and listed his 2011 goals as hitting 30 homers and driving in 100 runs.
"I want to thank the Orix for giving me a chance. I want to make sure they don't regret their decision," said Lee.
Lee then added that wanted to show the Giants they made the wrong choice in giving up on him.
