Rakuten Eagles News and Notes: December 12, 2010

Speaking at an electronics store event on Saturday, Takeshi Yamasaki told fans that he didn't plan on giving up his clean-up spot in the line-up.  Not to Randy Ruiz or anyone else.

Yamasaki is also hoping to break Hiromitsu Ochiai's 1996 mark of 21 homers at the age of 43 (Yamasaki will turn 43 on 11/7/2011) and compete for an HR title next season.

And while Yamasaki appeared to be a little sad that Akihiro Yano (a player his age) decided to retire this year, he looked to other players older than him, like Masahiro Yamamoto and Kimiyasu Kudo, as sources of motivation to keep going.

At least three Eagles' players (Teppei, Daisuke Kusano, and Motohiro Shima) teared up in public when talking about the trade that sent Naoto Watanabe to the Yokohama Bay Stars.
