Yokohama: Murata’s incentives tied to team’s performance

Shuichi Murata will be making 220M yen (down 40M yen) plus incentives next season.  And the incentives appear to be tied into team performance (like where the team ends in the standings and if they can get to the Climax Series).

It seems Murata also decided he'll be using a lighter bat next season (from 970 grams to about 930-940 grams) after realizing during fall camp that a heavier bat alone doesn't necessarily equate to hitting home runs.  Sanspo mentions that Murata decided on a lighter bat after Alex Ramirez (YOM) suggested that his 970 gram bat was too heavy.
