Yomiuri Giants News and Notes: December 16, 2010

by on Dec.16, 2010 @ 5:49 pm, under NPB

Hayato Sakamoto took BP on Wednesday (about 50 pitches in the cages) for the first time since the end of fall camp.  After BP, Sakamoto also spent some time taking fielding practice.

Sakamoto turned 22 on the 14th.

Kenji Yano met with the Giants today for a second round of salary negotiations today and put the team on hold again.  Yano told reporters that while he wanted to make sure he was satisfied with things before agreeing on anything, he also wanted to get things done as quickly as possible so that he can focus on practicing again.

FYI: Yano was offered 27M yen (no change over this past season).

Tatsunori Hara is glad to see 6 consecutive exhibition games under a roof (between 3/2 and 3/9).

Said Hara, "To have it start with Tokyo Dome is big.  And to have consecutive games is good.  We won't have to worry about the cold or the weather."
