Rakuten Eagles News and Notes: December 23, 2010

It seems yesterday's rainfall in Sendai (42mm in one hour) caused some major headaches for the Eagles.  Everyone that was available was called to Kleenex Stadium to help keep water out of the lower levels with sandbags and remove any water that got by with buckets.  If that weren't enough, the area around the stadium was also flooded (the ground in the area is lower than in other areas).  And that meant more work for everyone involved.

Akinori Iwamura participated in a charity golf tournament in Ehime on 22nd.  Former WBC boxing champion, Daisuke Naito, also took part in the tournament.  Seems Iwamura will be getting advice from Naito on how to lose weight without losing power.

Earlier today, Iwamura held a baseball clinic for about 130 kids at Botchan Stadium in Matsuyama.  Hiroyuki Nakajima (SEI) was a special guest instructor.

Hisashi Iwakuma handed out Christmas presents to 18 kids at the Donald McDonald Sendai House on Wednesday.  Iwakuma has his sights set on winning his 5th straight (7th overall) opening day start.
