Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito (1st round) told reporters on Friday after returning from Guam that he wanted to get into the bullpen as soon as possible.  Maybe even as early as rookie camp that begins on 1/12.  While in Guam, Saito said that he went swimming, did some shopping, and also go some running and weight training in. ... A ramen joint close to Sapporo Dome is trying to finalize a new dish called Yu-chan Ramen, prepared with "yuki," or organic, vegetables and topped with red king crab, by opening day. ... A fence and some tarp were put up around the bullpen area in Kamagaya to close off the area to fans.  The project apparently took about an hour.  Said a club rep, "It's too bad for the fans, but we need to do this so that the players can concentrate.  [With Saito coming] it'll be buzzing with fans here.  I just no one tries to climb the fence and peer over the tarp..."

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes announced that Taiki Mitsumata (2nd round) will be donating money to his hometown Katsushika Ward, Tokyo.  Mitsumata will be making a courtesy call to the ward on 1/5 to make his donation.

The fourth Waseda year students, about 30 in all -- including Yuki Saito (Nippon Ham, 1st round), Tatsuya Oishi (Seibu Lions, 1st round), and Yuya Fukui (Hiroshima Carp, 1st round) -- returned to Japan from a 3-night / 4-day victory trip to Guam.  Seems the three were also a hit with Japanese tourists visiting Guam.
