Hisanobu Watanabe would like to see Yasuyuki Kataoka, Takumi Kuriyama, Hiroyuki Nakajima, and Takeya Nakamura play in every inning of every game next season. If the four somehow manage to pull it off, the Lions will become the first team since 1944 (back when there was only one league and 35 games to a season) to have four players accomplish the milestone.
Hideaki Wakui met with the front office on Monday for the 2nd time this off-season to talk about his contract for the 2011 season and once again left the table without signing a deal.
Said Wakui, "They didn't think my 14 wins was very good. They just told me under normal circumstances they'd give me a pay cut and that they didn't think I worked hard in the second half. I just can't understand that."
Wakui had his agent with him this time around and spent about an hour and 45 minutes trying to hammer out a deal.
As of now, both Wakui and Nakajima will likely enter New Year without a contract.
