The Marines closed out their business operations for the year today.
Team president Ryuzo Setoyama told reporters today that the Marines pulled in 8B yen in revenue this year. And compared to last season, they were only in the red 2B yen, a decrease of 1.3B yen from last year.
Revenue from the Nippon Series and from posting Tsuyshi Nishioka are the likely drivers for the increase. There was also a drop of about 500M yen in player salaries as well.
Yuji Yoshimi plans on working straight through the New Year's holiday. Yoshimi worked out at Chiba Marine Stadium today (running, playing catch) and will move out to Wakayama tomorrow to continue his training.
Said Yoshimi, "I plan on working out on New Year's eve and New Year's day. I'll do my share of running and playing catch."
Hisao Heiuchi will go from wearing the number 16 to 23 next season.
