1/9/2011: Hideki Matsui makes some changes to his bat

by on Jan.09, 2011 @ 9:46 pm, under MLB

Hideki Matsui will be using a slightly different bat next season.  While the length of bat will remain unchanged (87cm), the weight will drop from 900-930 grams to 890-920 grams, and the handle end will be about 1.5mm thinner.

Matsui will also be changing the color of his cleats from back to green and white.  His batting gloves and his sweatbands will also be changed to match the Oakland A's team colors.

Via Sponichi - USA Today's Jorge L. Ortiz has written up an organizational report for the Oakland A's and had this to say about Matsui -

Designated Hitter
Hideki Matsui's 21 home runs last season were five more than anybody on the A's hit, so he's a more-than welcome addition. Matsui is 36 and no longer the "Godzilla" of years past, but he had a terrific second half (.309 average, 11 homers, .955 OPS in 60 games) after a slow start with the Los Angeles Angels.
