According to a report filed by Sanspo, the Yomiuri Giants held their first player development meeting of the year on Saturday at Giants Stadium in Kawasaki. Team rep Hidetoshi Kiyotake, director of player development Hideharu Matsuo, and Ni-gun manager Masahiro Kawai all took part in the meeting to go over things like the Ni-gun schedule, the secondary Ni-gun schedule, players that need extra work / instruction, and specific goals for players to aim for. The meeting lasted about an hour.
The Giants have 90 players under contract this year. In order to acccomodate for extra players, the Ni-gun team will also be playing in about 50 more games this season, for a total of about 270 over the course of the year.
