Kenji Jojima appeared in front of the media (Sasebo, Nagasaki - Sasebo Baseball Stadium) for the first time since his surgery in November. Jojima told reporters that he was making good progress with his rehab and that he was still aiming to be ready to go on opening day. Sanspo is also carrying the mini-speech he gave reporters. If I have time later, I'll see if I can translate it.
Takumi Akiyama, Shunsuke Fujikawa, and Masashi Nohara worked out in Sasebo, Nagasaki on Sunday. They're part of the group working with Jojima (although not directly this year because of Jojima's injury).
Nohara later told reporters that he and Ryota Arai were similar types of players and that he was interested in challenging his older brother, Takahiro, for a starting job.
Fujikawa told reporters that while he would like to win the lead-off spot in the line-up, he needed to focus on winning the starting CF job first.
Akiyama would like to accompany Jojima on one of his fishing trips (another way to get to know Jojima and perhaps learn more about being a baseball player and pitching).
Kosuke Kato was originally planning on working out in Airzona but won't be after a number of issues came up. On Sunday, he worked out at Naruohama.
