Naoyuki Shimizu worked out at a baseball field in Hachioji today. He told reporters that he wanted to win at least 15 games and toss at least 200 innings.
Chiba Lotte Marines
Yoshifumi Okada will be using a 960 gram bat next season (up 20 grams from this season).
Takumi Kuriyama worked out at Seibu 2 Stadium today. He also took his first round of BP for the year, hitting most of the pitches to center and to the opposite field.
Kuriyama has apparently been waking up early in the morning (6am) in order to begin his training at 7:30am. His goals for the season: bat .330 and collect 200 hits.
Koji Akiyama and Toru Hosokawa might meet up for some dinner during their respective stays in Guam (Akiyama is there with his family; Hosokawa is there for training).
Akiyama also provided the following comment regarding the overcrowding of players at first and DH:
Fielding is a must [for any starting player]. [Alex] Cabrera at first? There's also [Hiroki] Kokubo. I haven't really thought about it yet. Ideally, [all players] will have a primary position and the ability to play a number of other positions.
