Hiroshima Carp

Takahiro Iwamoto was a transmission's officer for the day at Fuchu, Hiroshima on Monday (January 10 = 110 = Japan's emergency phone number).  He told fans that his goal for the year was 30 homers and 110 RBI.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Shun Yamaguchi worked out for about 4 hours in Susono, Shizuoka today (running, throwing).  It was also the first day he started using the new regulation NPB baseball.  Seems the new ball is actually helping him throw a pitch that breaks away from left-handed pitchers (like a two-seamer).

Naoyuki Shimizu is apparently thinking about picking up a shuto this year in order to give batters a different look.  Up until now, Shimizu has been primarily relying on pitches like the cutter and split, but since he's been using those pitches for such a long time, he wants to pick up something different and mix things up.  Said Shimizu, "I'll continue to pitch outside, but batters are starting to look for that pitch nowadays.  I'd like to throw something like a shuto that has late movement."

Chiba Lotte Marines

Tadahito Iguchi worked outs in Nago, Okinawa today.  Iguchi's workouts in Okinawa actually began on the 6th and today was the first day of the second block of his training session.  Players like Kei Hosoya, Naotaka Takehara, and Hanshin Tiger Takashi Toritani are also working out with Iguchi.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Atsunori Inaba apparently weighs about 95kg right now.  He's not too worried about that though since he'll be using the time before the regular season to drop his weight back down to the upper-80s.

Rakuten Eagles

Akinori Iwamura arrived in Okinawa today to continue the training he started in Uwajima, Ehime on 1/3.

Kazuo Matsui worked out at a field in Tokyo today and did some running, throwing, fielding, and batting practice.  His practice lasted about 3 hours in all.

Seibu Lions

Takeya Nakamura worked out at Seibu 2 Stadium on Tuesday (soccer, playing catch, taking grounders, taking BP).

Softbank Hawks

Seiichi Uchikawa will be more than happy to provide Kenta Imamiya with any help he might need.  On Monday, he took part in a baseball clinic in Beppu, Oita for about 3,000 kids and parents.

Toshiya Sugiuchi started working out in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima today (running, playing catch, badminton).  He's currently working out with Kosuke Fukudome and Katsuki Yamazaki.
