Hanshin Tigers

Shinta Hifumi (2nd round) played some catch at Naruohama yesterday during his day off.  He also showed off his new yellow glove.  Said Hifumi, "This color brings me winning luck.  During my third summer I used a yellow glove, so I decided on this color [now].  I'm planning on using this during games."

Fumiya Araki (5th round) spent about an hour working out on his day off yesterday.

Yakult Swallows

Yuki Shichijo (2nd round) told reporters yesterday that he'll toss about 30 pitches in the bullpen today.  Shichijo is also scheduled to toss a second bullpen on the 19th.  Depending on his schedule, Junji Ogawa may also drop in to catch the bullpen session.

Yomiuri Giants

Yuki Koyama (4th round) and Hirokazu Sawamura (1st round) did some extra running after practice today.  After their run, Koyama did a handstand in front of Sawamura and said that it was something anyone could do with a little practice.

It was Keisuke Kishi's (Ikusei 2nd round) 24th birthday today.  Some of the fans in the stands handed Kishi birthday presents after the morning practice.

The Giants' third block of rookie camp began today and lasted about 5 hours.  It included running, fielding, BP, and trunk muscle exercises.

Rakuten Eagles

Manabu Mima (2nd round) tossed about 40 pitches in the bullpen today (standing catcher).  He's the first rookie to pitch in the bullpen during rookie camp this year.

Seibu Lions

Tatsuya Oishi (1st round) was stopped by fans in the middle of a shopping excursion on his day off yesterday and ended up signing over 100 autographs.  He later told reporters that his goal was to sign over 10,000 autographs a year.  It seems he's already signed more autographs in the past month as he did over his four years at Waseda.  Oishi was also with Ryo Hayashizaki (5th round) and Masato Kumashiro (6th round).

Kazuhisa Makita (2nd round) tossed a bullpen session today (standing catcher).

The Lions' cycling training for rookies will take place on the 17th.

Softbank Hawks

Ayatsugu Yamashita's (1st round) older brother is the lead vocalist for indie rock group Sugarless Intent.  Ayatsugu's dream: to someday use his brother's music for his intro music.  After general rookie practice on Friday, Yamashita spent some extra time in the batting cages and worked on his throws to second.

Yuki Yanagita (2nd round) is hoping to improve his flexibility by adding morning baths and stretches to his routine every day.  Seems he was told that his body lacked flexibility during a physical he received on the 12th.
