Tomoaki Kanemoto made an appearance at a talk event sponsored by Phiten on Saturday and jokingly told fans he wanted to go to Ichi-gun camp because he knew Okinawa better than Kochi.  He also said that he'd like to take part in outdoor BP during spring camp (sometime on or after 2/10) and that his right shoulder was feeling good enough that he was already throwing into a net (about 2 week ahead of schedule).

Kanemoto started taking BP on the 6th and took about 40 swings of the bat in the morning on Saturday; he started shadow pitching on the 7th.

About 170 fans (or 300 if you read Daily Sports) were in attendance for the event.

Minori Iwata is currently working out with players like Toshiya Sugiuchi (SOF) in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima.  His workouts have been starting at 9am and ending around 4pm and have included exercises to help him strengthen his lower body in attempt to lessen the strain on his upper body.  One of those exercises is doing shikofumi 60 consecutive times.

Sugiuchi also suggested that Iwata work on three main areas: strengthening the mind / spirit; strengthening the hip area; strengthening the energy during release.

Akinobu Mayumi told reporters on Saturday that Kenji Jojima will begin the year at Ni-gun camp in Kochi.  The Tigers simply do not want to risk rushing Jojima.

===

Atsushi Nomi worked out at Kadena Sports Dome in Kadena, Okinawa today and tossed 177 BP pitches to Kentaro Sekimoto and Shinji Komiyama.  And he threw 130 BP pitches the day before and plans on throwing BP pitches everyday through to the 20th.

===

Ryuji Wakatake worked out at Naruohama on Saturday and tried a little throwing from the side.  Wakatake could hold a bullpen session as early as the 17th.

Katsuhiko Saka used a first baseman's glove during catch at Naruohama yesterday.  Seems he wants to be prepared in case he's called on to play some first again this year (he playedg one game at first last year on 10/5 against the Yakult Swallows).

Keiichi Yabu, Mayumi, Wei-Chu Lin, Saka, Ryo Watanabe, Kazuya Tsutsui, and Shunsuke Fujikawa participated in a charity auction sponsored by Asahi Auto Center in Amagasaki, Hyogo today.  Amongst the items that were auctioned off: an SF Giants' home uniform Yabu wore that went for 45,000 yen; and a Mayumi home uniform that went for 85,000 yen.  Proceeds (a total 1,341,180 yen was raised) will go to children that lost their parents in traffic accidents.
