Hanshin Tigers News and Notes: January 17, 2011

Nikkan Sports and Sanspo note that Akinobu Mayumi has his work cut out for him, with regards to figuring out what kind of rotation he plans to go with.  Possible candidates: Atsushi Nomi, Yasutomo Kubo, Jason Standridge, Takumi Akiyama, Minoru Iwata, Randy Messenger, Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi, Yuya Ando, and rookie Daiki Enokida (1st round).


Kyuji Fujikawa worked out in Ginoza, Okinawa todayHiromitsu Ochiai advised Fujikawa to do a lot of running during a talk they had at last year's All-Star game.  After hearing that and seeing the Dragons pull off a late-season comeback to take first place in the CL, Fujikawa decided to focus on doing a lot of running this winter -- he ran sixty 30-50 meter dashes today and is trying to run about 7-9km whenever he holds a practice session.

Kenta Abe also worked out with Fujikawa today.


Nomi is on pace to throw over 1,000 pitches before the start of spring camp.  Nomi's goal is to toss 200 innings this year.


The Museum of Hanshin Koshien Stadium held an administration meeting today that also included former Hanshin Tiger manager Yoshio Yoshida and chairperson of the Tigers old timers committee Kozo Kawato.
