Hideki Matsui told reporters yesterday that he has already started swinging the bat this year (not necessarily full strength). He also said that his new bat arrived and that he planned on taking some BP soon (most likely before returning to the US). Matsui is already working out at a faster pace than last year.
Tsuyoshi Nishioka worked out for about 2 hours at the Osaka Toin High School baseball grounds on Monday (played catch, took some grounders, BP, and ran five 100 meter dashes up a hill). Nisioka told reporters he wanted to "return to his roots" before heading off to the Majors and spoke of how he remembered doing 100 dashes up the same hill when he was in high school as punishment for making a mistake.
Nishioka also said that he'd like to be as close to 100% by 2/15. He has also been using an MLB baseball during his workouts.
Sho Nakata (HAM) also worked out with Nishioka on Monday and told reporters he was sad that Nishioka was leaving.
Via Nikkan Sports: Kenshin Kawakami updated his blog on Monday. In it, he talks about how he's managed to learn a lot of things over the last two years how he has also hit a number of bumps in the road. He then closes out his thoughts by saying that he wanted to turn things around this year and make it a positive season.
