A little more on Kyuji Fujikawa's 5-hour practice yesterday: he started things off with about 30 minutes of running; he then played some catch; after that it was ten 100 meter dashes, twenty 50 meters dashes, and thirty 30 meter dashes for a total 2,900 meters; and some weight training to strengthen his lower body.

Fujikawa's new stitching on his glove for the 2011 season: Not words but deeds.

Fujikawa has also changed his hair style and dyed his hair black.

Regarding the possibility of Hiroyuki Kobayashi joining the team, Fujikawa said, "If Hiroyuki comes it'll be fun, we'll have good games.  I'm sure it'll also help spur internal competition.  And I'm grateful that the club appears to have understood how difficult things were for me last season.  It made me remember just how great this club is.  I'm really appreciate it."

Sanspo is carrying a three part interview with Fujikawa: one, two, three.  In the interview, he talks about his current training exercises (like how he's focusing on running right now and how Hiromitsu Ochiai was the one that turned him to it), his thoughts on Yuki Saito (1st round, HAM), and his goals for the current season.

Naoto Tsuru worked out for 6 hours in Ginoza, Okinawa today (it was his second straight 6-hour practice day).

Yuya Ando played catch at a distance of about 40 meters and threw the ball about 50 times during a practice session at Naruohama yesterday.  Said Ando, "It was the first time I threw outside.  Things are going well.  I won't be working towards a certain date, but will rather base everything on how my right shoulder is feeling."

Tomoyuki Kubota worked out at Ginoza, Okinawa today.  His training included about 2000 meters worth of dashes.

The Hanshin Tigers invited Fushimi High School Rugby manager Yoshiharu Yamaguchi to hold a lecture for their players on 2/6 at their Ni-gun spring camp.

Chairman of the Tigers' old timers committee, Kozo Kawato, spoke of how he wanted more people to visit the Museum of Hanshin Koshien Stadium during yesterday's museum administration meeting.  He suggested that the museum set up a corner where visitors would actually be able to touch items that were used by players as a way to draw more visitors.

The museum also announced that they drew 174,800 fans during it's first year of operation (28,000 in March 2010 and an estimated 146,800 between April 2010 and March 2011).

The Tigers announced that the solar panels installed at Koshien Stadium hit their 1-year goal of 193,000 kilowatts of energy today, 52 days earlier than their initial estimates.  That translates to about 133 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Tigers are looking to hire about 40 Fan Service staff members.  More details can be found at the official Tigers' site.
