NPB pushing forward with three game All-Star Series

by on Jan.20, 2011 @ 11:21 pm, under NPB

The NPB held an executive committee meeting in Tokyo today and decided to move forward with their plans to increase the number of All-Stars games from two to three in an effort to help bring in some additional revenue.  The last time the league played a three game All-Star Series was back in 2001.

If the plan goes through, the All-Star schedule will likely go from:

7/22 - Game 1 at Nagoya Dome
7/23 - Game 2 at QVC Marine Field

to:

7/22 - Game 1 at Nagoya Dome
7/23 - Game 2 at Tokyo Dome
7/24 - Game 3 at QVC Marine Field

The committee also:

...confirmed that if an Asia Series takes place in Taiwan in November, the league will send the Nippon Series champ to take part in the competition.

...put all games played against KBO baseball teams during spring camp under the heading - Asia Spring Baseball.
