Chunichi Dragons

Junki Ito tossed his first bullpen of the year today at Nagoya Dome -- he threw 30 pitches to a standing catcher.

Hanshin Tigers

Ikketsu Sho told reporters that he fulfilled his required military service time during the winter (about 12 days).  Under normal circumstances, Sho would be required for serve a full year of military service, but because Taiwan won the Silver for baseball at the 2010 Asian Games in November, he received a reduction on service time.

Akihito Fujii dropped by Naruohama training facilities today for the first time since being traded to the team.  After introducing himself to staff and players, he did some light training.

Ken Nishimura threw 45 pitches in the bullpen on Thursday.  It was his second bullpen of the year.

Takashi Toritani was taken to court for failing to pay a real estate company in Hyogo an agency commission (about 2.8M yen) after they helped him secure a home in October 2009.  The courts ruled today that Toritani is to pay the real estate company about 1M yen.

Hiroshima Carp

The Carp held a staff meeting today at Mazda Stadium.  76 members of the Carp (front office staff, personnel, coaches) also visited Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine today in order to pray for a successful season.

Yakult Swallows

Shinya Miyamoto told reporters today that he plans to take things slow during spring camp things year in order to avoid injury (he inured his right calf before the start of the 2010 season and ended up struggling in the first half).  Miyamoto worked out at the Toda facilities today and will continue with his workouts at various places, like the Jingu facilities, until the start of spring camp.

Norichika Aoki worked out at the Jingu training facilities today (played some catch, did some running)

Junji Ogawa will once again ask his coaches to rank the players at each position at the end of spring camp.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Tatsuhiko Kinjo worked out at the Yokosuke training facilities yesterday.  He started his training this year at 1:01am on 1/1/2011 in Osaka.  He also spent some time training in Okinawa and worked out at Yokosuke yesterday for the first time this year.

Hichori Morimoto told reporters yesterday he'd like try and prepare some sort of performance for the fans at the team's home opener (3/29 vs Yakult).  He also said that his role on the team included changing the team atmosphere and meeting team expectations.

Tasuku Hashimoto worked out for about 3 hours in Urayasu today (fielding practice, BP).

The Bay Stars held their third staff meeting and decided to hold off on announcing spring training assignments until the 26th.

Yomiuri Giants

Satoshi Fukuda worked out for about 3 hours at Giants Stadium today (long throws, running).  Fukuda has been pushing himself pretty hard this off-season and once held a training session that lasted out over 9 hours in one day.

Itaru Hashimoto spent about 30 minutes in the batting cages at Giants Stadium today.  Upon returning from the Australian Winter League in late December, Hashimoto has been spending a lot of time swinging the bat.

Yoshinobu Takahashi returned to Tokyo on Thursday from his workouts in Okinawa.  He told reporters he was able to do all the training he wanted to do in Okinawa and that back was feeling fine.
