Chiba Lotte Marines

Yuki Karakawa told reporters today that while he was taking things a little more slowly than previous years, he still planned on tossing a bullpen session on the first day of spring camp.  He also said that his goal for the season was to record double-digit wins.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Eichi Koyano usually splits his time between the Kamagaya training facilities and his Alma mater Soka University in January, but since he got a late start on his training (he had a busy schedule with a large number of events to attend), he plans on heading out to Nago, Okinawa on the 23rd.  He told reporters after his practice at Kamagaya yesterday that he planned on doing more running and hitting (off a live pitcher) once he got to Okinawa.

Orix Buffaloes

Takahiro Okada's lesson with track and field runner Shingo Akimoto at Kobe Universiad Memorial Stadium yesterday lasted about an hour.  Okada's workouts with Ichiro begin tomorrow.  For practice today, Okada worked out with teammate Takeshi Hidaka and X-League Asahi Beverages' Running Back Soichiro Tsukuda at Skymark Stadium.

Rakuten Eagles

Shinichiro Koyama worked out at Kleenex Stadium yesterday and threw 30 pitches in the bullpen.  He also told reporters that he managed work on his lower body a lot (running and weight training) during his training in Okinawa. ... Koyama tossed another bullpen session today and told reporters that he was feeling great and that his shoulder wasn't feeling tired despite throwing on consecutive days.

Senichi Hoshino arrived in Sendai on Thursday in order to attend a staff meeting scheduled for today.

Motohiro Shima will be appearing in a TV commercial for Nomura Real Estate Development's Proud Sendai Tsutsujigaoka.

The Eagles are thinking about offering live streaming footage of spring camp (2/1 - 2/19) via services like Nico Nico Nama Houso and Ustream.

Seibu Lions

Yusei Kikuchi told reporters he was taking things slow this year and that instead of thinking about being fully ready for the start of spring camp, he was focusing more on the exhibition game season.  After practice on Thursday, Kikuchi stayed back and signed autographed wearing glasses.

Hironori Matsunaga tossed a bullpen session at the Seibu training facilities today.  Matsunaga is continuing to work on the sidearm delivery he switched to during fall camp last year and told reporters he was more or less satisfied with the results of the session.

Softbank Hawks

Nobuhiro Matsuda started working out at the Saitozaki training grounds on Thursday after spending most of his time at a city gym and at his Alma mater (Asia University).  Matsuda told reporters that while he only planned on bringing his infielder's glove to camp this year, he'll be ready to play other positions, if necessary.  He also said he made a few tweaks to his batting form that involved less movement before the pitch.

Tsuyoshi Wada has been taking in over 6,000 kcals a day.  During practice, he's eating one banana every 1.5 hours and 11 rice balls for lunch.  And he usually spends 1.5 to 2 hours a day on eating dinner.  There are even some days where his dinners are about 5,000 kcals, pushing his totals for the day into the 9,000 kcal range.

Taking a page out of Wada's training this winter (the two are working out together), Shota Oba has managed to add 7kg to his frame and now weighs a personal high, 88kg.

Kazumi Saito told reporters today that he would like to hold a bullpen session sometime in February, but also wasn't looking to rush himself either.

The Softbank Hawks announced today that they will be selling Reserved A seat tickets for 1,000 yen (usually 4,300 yen) during weekday night games at Yahoo Dome between 4/5 and 5/12 (a total 9 games) in celebration of their League Championship last year.  The tickets will only be available at the discounted price between 1/22 and 2/26.
