The Salary Arbitration Committee awarded Hideaki Wakui with a 253M yen contract today. The media also learned that Wakui made 220M yen plus incentives last season instead of the previously reported 200M yen plus incentives. Wakui was hoping for a contract worth 270M yen, so the final ruling is actually somewhere in the middle.
Wakui - I'm glad I decided on salary arbitration. I feel everything is now settled and will do my best to shoot for a championship.
Team GM Yasuo Maeda - As a club, we were able to say everything we felt we needed to. We will accept this and pay whatever amount was suggested.
The committee deliberated for over 20 hours.
