Hanshin Tigers

Both Randy Messenger and Matt Murton arrived in Japan today.

Minoru Iwata tossed 36 pitches in the bullpen today.  He also mixed in some off-speed pitches for the first time (3 two-seamers, and 2 each of his slider and curve).

Yuya Ando (right shoulder) is continuing his rehab training at Naruohama.  In an effort to place less strain on his body, he has also been splitting his throwing sessions up into three sessions where one session is playing catch at both long and short distances  On Friday he was throwing at a max distance of about 65 meters.

Craig Brazell told reporters yesterday that he won't be changing the little jig he performs after hitting home runs this season since he had a good season last year.  Asked if he might change his dancing partner, Brazell said he'd have to think about it (he would have to get to know Key-ta first and and would then need to see if To-Lucky was ok with it).

Yakult Swallows

Shohei Tateyama plans on continuing his piano training during spring camp this year (he's been bringing an electronic keyboard with him to spring camp the last few years).

Wladimir Balentien took some BP yesterday at Jingu and told reporters that he plans on bringing his PS3 along with him to spring camp.  He's hoping to become closer with his teammates by playing video games with them.

Yomiuri Giants

Seth Greisinger arrived in Japan today.  He told reporters he managed to toss 2-3 bullpen sessions in order to get a feel for the ball and that he was feeling about as good as he's ever felt over the last 2-3 years.  Levi Romero also arrived in Japan today.

Tetsuya Utsumi tossed 26 pitches (including off-speed pitches) to a standing catcher today.

Hideki Sunaga threw a bullpen session today.  Partway through the session, Shinnosuke Abe stepped in to catch him (Sunaga threw a total 8 pitches to Abe).  Afterward, the two spoke for a few minutes to check on signs and pitch types.

Shun Tono had to get checked out at a local hospital in Miyazaki after he felt stiffness in his back.  He got the day off today and the team will continue to monitor his situation.

Tetsuya Yamaguchi threw 40 pitches in the bullpen in Miyazaki on Friday (squatting catcher, including his slider, change, and shuto).  Yamaguchi will be going for his third consecutive 70+ appearance season.

Dicky Gonzalez arrived in Japan on Friday about 7kg lighter (now weighing about 100kg) than when he left in October last year.

Even though the Giants added lighting at Giants Stadium during the off-season, they will not be playing any night games there (they do have 12 games that are scheduled to start at 4pm though).  It seems the lights are really bright and out of consideration for people living in the area, the team will be turning them off at 9pm.

The Giants posted information about how to purchase tickets to their home games at Tokyo Dome on Friday.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The "Three Party Meetings" were held at the team offices today.  A total 10 people took part in the meeting: team president Takao Kaji, managing director Teiji Sato, three other front office members, Takao Obana, general coach Tetsuji Okamoto, team captain Shuichi Murata, Bay Stars' chief player rep Shinji Niinuma, and long-term veteran Daisuke Miura.
