Hanshin Tigers: Hiroyuki Kobayashi’s comments from yesterday

by on Jan.29, 2011 @ 1:50 pm, under NPB

Sanspo is carrying comments from Hiroyuki Kobayashi:

What are you feeling, now that the contract has officially been signed?

I feel great.  I'm ready to do my best this year for the Tigers.

What is your current condition?

It's good.

What kind of season do you want to have?

I don't want to overdo things, I want to get on a nice rhythm, and do things as usual.  I want to make it so that I can give it my absolute best to help the team win.

The kanji 宏 was added [to your last name]...

It has always been like that.  And that's the way it shows up on bulletin boards.  I'd feel a little strange if it changed now.  And this way it'll be easier for the fans as well.

Have you contacted Kyuji [Fujikawa]?

I e-mail him sometimes.  I forget about what.

Which Central League batter do you not enjoy facing?

I don't really have one.  Even if I did, I wouldn't say.  But there are a lot of good hitters.

Which [Hanshin] player do you already have a connection with?

[Takahiro] Arai.  I've spoken to him at the player association meetings.

The Central League tends to play small ball...

I don't think there's as much as a difference as some people say.  [In the end,] it's all baseball.  Teams in the Pacific League also play small ball.

Team owner Shinya Sakai and team president Nobuo Minami had a chance to meet with Kobayashi for about 20 minutes after yesterday's press conference.
