Yoshihisa Naruse threw 65 pitches in the bullpen today. It was his second straight session in as many days and he could make it three with another session tomorrow.
Said Naruse, "I had a much better session today than yesterday. I felt good today. ... Depending on how my body feels, I'd like to hold another bullpen session tomorrow."
Ishimine worked with batting coach Eiji Kanamori for about 1.5 hours today (teaching him theories on compact swings, or hitting the ball when it's closest to the body).
Yasuhiko Yabuta tossed his second bullpen session in as many days today. He threw a total 70 pitches.
Said Yabuta, "The catcher caught the ball in such a way to make my pitches sound good. But it's just as always. ... Right now I need to get my mechanics down. And I'll decide when to toss my next bullpen based on how I'm feeling."
All 21 position players ran a 3,000 meter during practice yesterday. Shota Ishimine (1st round) came in first place.
Said Ishimine, "My strength are my legs. And I can't slack off because I hate losing."
Takashi Ogino took some extra fielding at short yesterday.
Said Ogino, "I'm only at about 80% in terms of mobility. But if I keep complaining about the pain I'll never improve. I need to dig in and do my best."
