Kenta Kurihara is working on his swing (his left side is apparently opening up too quickly and he isn't using his lower body very effectively).  As part of his training today, Kurihara swung a rake (tonbo) instead of a bat.  After that, he spent some time taking soft toss BP.

Kiyoshi Toyoda celebrated his 40th birthday today by throwing 40 pitches in the bullpen.

Bryan Bullington threw 30 pitches (including his change, and slider) in the bullpen yesterday.

Said Bullington, "My feel for the ball on the mound still isn't at 100%.  I didn't throw the ball too hard.  Right now, my focus is on throwing strikes. ... I used to watch Atlanta a lot back when they were strong.  Maddux, Glavine...  I'd like to try and become a pitcher like Smoltz."

Bullington also added that he threw a bullpen session about 10 days ago.

Dragons' scout - "His arms and legs are long so it takes a while for the ball to come out.  They throw differently, but if his change is on, it could look similar to [Seth] Greisinger's."

Giants' scout - "He kept his pitches around the plate.  He's tall and call in at an angle."

Dennis Sarfate threw 25 pitches in the bullpen yesterday at about 75-80%.

Giants' scout - "He's got good velocity and an off-speed pitch that has vertical break."
