Atsunori Inaba took about 80 grounders at first during fielding practice today and later told reporters that it made sense for players to learn multiple positions.  When asked how his left shoulder was doing, Inaba said that it still wasn't 100%, but was feeling better.

Yu Darvish threw 26 pitches (including off-speed pitches) in the bullpen today (squatting catcher).  Darvish was also informed today that he'll be the opening day starter for the 5th year in a row.

Makoto Kaneko continues to use jika-tabi during fielding practice.  And it seems he's suggesting other players give it a try as well.

===

Darvish told reporters today that he'll continue to show Sho Nakata tough love in order to help him get him into shape.

A little more on Nakta's BP session yesterday: he swung the bat 45 times and actually hit 11 over the fence (including 5 that went out of the stadium.  Nakata also hit 13 over the fense on the first day of spring camp.

Said Nakata, "The fact that I'm focusing on my lower body hasn't changed.  That's why I said it's important to continue strengthening my lower body."

Masataka Nashida on Nakata's hitting so far this spring: "I think he's improved the most.  From the minute he steps into the cage, he doesn't waste one pitch.  That's a good thing."
