This post will be updated with information as it becomes available so keep checking back if you have any interest in Yuki Saito.
=== 1/4 @ 1:32am
Saito told reporters today that he was watching the news after a team meeting on the 2nd, but didn't bother to actually watch the news about him.
Saito ran with Bobby Keppel today -- 6 times around a roughly 300 meter track. Saito ended up finishing behind Keppel at the last minute.
A little more on Saito's bullpen session on Wednesday:
Saito bounced four pitches (all sliders) during the session. But that was actually by design -- the thinking was that batters would going fishing on the pitch. And it seems Saito threw about 80% of his fastballs around the strike zone (24 fastballs, 19 for strikes) and intentionally tried to keep his off-speed pitches out of the zone (14 off-speed pitches, 11 were out of the strike zone).
Saito threw to a total 4 catchers: Masataka Nashida, bullpen catcher Mitsuhisa Nakayama, Ryota Imanari, and Shinya Tsuruoka.
About 300 fans gathered outside the bullpen to try and catch a glimpse of Saito tossing his first session.
Masataka Nashida told reporters yesterday that if Saito doesn't hit any major bumps in the road, he'll make his debut in a practice game against the Samsung Lions on the 13th.
The 1,500 tickets to the Nippon Ham Fighters Fan Meet scheduled for 2/5 in Nago, Okinawa sold out within 2.5 hours of going on sale at 5 locations in Nago on 1/21 (at 1,000 yen a pop). And even though there will apparently be a few tickets available on the day of the event, a Rakuten auction shows that two tickets were sold at 39,910 yen. (Via Sanspo)
